Nike is launching NFTs

The sportswear and footwear giant Nike is starting a non-fungible tokens (NFTs) campaign. The NFT will be placed on the .Swoosh platform. The new collection will feature Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.

The Nike Air Force 1 model first appeared 41 years ago. The NFT collection is called Our Force 1 (OF1) and will consist of two types of "digital sneakers". The first type will feature classic sneakers released between 1982 and 2006, while the second, New Wave, will feature models released after 2007.

To attract fans, Nike designers have created unique colorways for sneakers specifically for NFTs. The options will be quite rare, and collection buyers can only hope for luck to get the rare ones. Additionally, the unique NFTs will appear both in classic and modern forms of OF1. The tokens will have a special price of $19.82 — a reference to the year of the model's creation. What is more interesting, Nike will not accept cryptocurrency for purchasing NFT sets.

The company decided to make the NFT sales scheme more interesting — they will give away virtual AF1 posters to random .Swoosh platform's users. And on May 8, the holders can use them to release OF1 sets. The full collection sale is going to start on May 10.

Last year, according to reports, the Nike brand earned $185 million from the sale of collectible tokens.
