What is Toncoin (TON)?

Toncoin is a cryptocurrency operating in the ecosystem of The Open Network (TON), originally developed by the Telegram messenger team. The project aimed to create a scalable and decentralized blockchain platform with high transaction speeds and low fees.

Overview of Toncoin (TON)

The Open Network (TON) was announced by Telegram in 2018 and attracted significant attention as a promising project focused on interaction with messengers and the integration of cryptocurrency functions into everyday communication. Initially called Telegram Open Network, it raised over $1.7 billion in its token presale stage, making it one of the largest projects. After legal disputes with the SEC in 2020, Telegram transferred the project’s rights to an independent development team.

How does Toncoin work?

TON uses a unique Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm and can process up to one million transactions per second, thanks to its multi-layered chain architecture. This makes the network extremely fast and scalable, setting it apart from other blockchains. To send Toncoin, you need the recipient’s wallet address. Transactions are confirmed by validators who are rewarded for maintaining the network.

Mining and Staking

TON Traditional mining is not available for Toncoin, but users can participate in staking by becoming validators or delegators. This allows them to earn rewards for confirming transactions and maintaining network security.

Storing Toncoin

Toncoin can be stored in both hot wallets (mobile and desktop apps) and cold methods, such as hardware devices. Telegram offered a native wallet for storing TON, integrated into the messenger, which simplifies usage and makes the network more accessible. However, the most reliable way to store TON is by using the PassimPay wallet. With PassimPay, users can access their funds at any time with just a few clicks. At the same time, PassimPay guarantees the security of funds and user information through reliable data protection systems, constant IP monitoring, and access control. More information about PassimPay’s security can be found on the Security page.
