Octella is a Riga-based omnichannel contact-center platform founded in 2023. Its cloud software combines PBX, autodialing, chats, social media, SMS and email, and CRM integrations for more than 300 B2B clients, mainly in Europe and Asia. The company serves fintech, contact center as a service, and other client verticals where traditional banking and payment options can create additional friction.
Crypto payments were new territory for Octella when it began working with PassimPay in February 2024. Since then, the payment option has developed from a first integration into a channel used by customers in more than 50 countries.
Key results
7,500+ transactions processed through PassimPay since the start of the integration.
At least 45% year-over-year growth in crypto payments.
50+ countries represented among Octella customers paying in crypto.
10–15% of Octella clients use the crypto payment option.
The Challenge: Cross-Border Payments Outside the EU
Before PassimPay, Octella had not used a crypto payment processor. The company was considering crypto because some customers outside the European Union faced expensive and slow international transfers.
For those customers, a transfer could cost up to $50 and take as long as five business days. That created friction for a B2B software company serving an international customer base, especially in markets where conventional payment methods could be slower, more expensive, or harder to access.
Octella was already going through onboarding with another company when its team met a PassimPay manager at an exhibition in Dubai. No previous crypto-processing provider had been launched, so PassimPay became Octella’s first live crypto payment setup.
Why Octella Chose PassimPay
The decision was driven less by a unique technical feature than by the quality of communication.
From Octella’s perspective, many crypto-processing providers can look similar at the product level. The difference becomes more visible during onboarding, when a company needs fast answers, practical guidance, and a team that understands how the payment flow fits into existing processes.
After the first meeting in Dubai, the teams held several calls to review the product, commercial terms, and integration process. Octella ultimately chose PassimPay because of the responsiveness and involvement of the team throughout those discussions.
“We chose PassimPay somewhat unexpectedly, while already in the onboarding process with another provider. The difference in approach turned out to be enormous: where communication with the previous service was difficult, the PassimPay team showed themselves as a genuine business partner from day one. The team promptly held several detailed calls, went through our processes, and helped us launch the integration within ~2 weeks. We’ve been using the service for more than two years, and throughout this time the technical side has proven completely reliable, while the quality of customer service keeps steadily improving.” — The Octella Team
The Integration
Octella’s integration chat with PassimPay was created on February 15, 2024, which marks the start of the project timeline.
The implementation was handled by Octella’s technical team under the direction of its lead developer. The ultimate goal was to give Octella customers an additional way to pay for the company’s services using cryptocurrency.
The integration supports 11 cryptocurrency and network combinations across Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Tron (TRX), Solana (SOL), and Binance Coin (BNB).
Results: 7,500+ Transactions and Customers in 50+ Countries
Since February 2024, Octella customers have completed more than 7,500 transactions through PassimPay. Crypto payment activity has grown by at least 45% year over year, while customers from more than 50 countries have used the option.
Around 10–15% of Octella clients now use crypto payments. For a company that had never accepted cryptocurrency before the integration, this shows that crypto has developed into a recurring payment option rather than remaining a limited experiment.
Stablecoins dominate the transaction mix. Tether (USDT) represents 72.05% of payments when networks are grouped together, followed by Bitcoin (BTC) at 13.86% and USD Coin (USDC) at 8.70%.
Currency | Share |
Tether (USDT) | 72.05% |
Bitcoin (BTC) | 13.86% |
USD Coin (USDC) | 8.70% |
Ethereum (ETH) | 3.06% |
Tron (TRX) | 1.99% |
Solana (SOL) | 0.26% |
Binance Coin (BNB) | 0.04% |
Looking at networks, USDT on TRC20 is the single largest payment route at 48.24%, while USDT on ERC20 accounts for another 23.31%. Together, the two USDT routes represent 71.55% of all payments.
Currency / network | Share |
USDT TRC20 | 48.24% |
USDT ERC20 | 23.31% |
Bitcoin | 13.86% |
USDC ERC20 | 7.43% |
Ethereum (ETH) | 3.06% |
Tron | 1.99% |
USDC Solana | 1.12% |
USDT BEP20 | 0.50% |
Solana | 0.26% |
USDC Polygon | 0.14% |
BNB BEP20 | 0.04% |
The transaction mix also shows the role stablecoins play specifically in Octella’s payment setup. Most crypto payments are already concentrated in dollar-pegged assets, while customers retain access to several major cryptocurrencies and networks.
How Octella Customers Use Crypto Payments
Octella customers use the crypto option to pay for the company’s contact-center services. The strongest measurable result is its international reach: customers in more than 50 countries have already used the payment method.
The figures also indicate that customers are not treating crypto as an occasional fallback. With 10–15% of Octella clients using the option and crypto payment activity growing by at least 45% year over year, it now has a measurable role in the company’s payment setup.
What Other B2B Companies Can Take From Octella’s Experience
Octella’s experience points to two concrete considerations for companies evaluating crypto payments.
First, payment demand should be assessed against actual cross-border friction. In Octella’s case, some non-EU customers were paying up to $50 and waiting up to five business days for a transfer, giving the company a real reason to add another payment option.
Second, provider selection is not only a technical comparison. When competing services offer similar core functionality, onboarding quality, response times, and the ability to work through implementation questions can have a direct impact on how quickly a payment channel gets launched and how manageable it remains afterward.
Specific future expansion plans for Octella’s crypto payment setup have not yet been disclosed.
